First of all i want to thank the Band Buried and Back to give me the Honor to write about them!

I did discover them over there Spotify and had to admit that there Songs are pretty much addicting. And that comes from someone who is more into Symphonic Metal.

The Line-Up is as such
Rex (Guitars, Vocals, Bass, Drum programming)

On February 5, 2024, Buried and Back rocked both the thrash metal and death metal scenes with his single "All Dead Ones Rise!" He brought a breath of fresh air with his horror theme, which already won him several fans.

As always, we were able to ask our questions, which we are happy to include.
Ceyla"Is there any band that inspires you the most? Or, if there isn’t such a band, where do you draw your inspiration from?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Rex: "For me, it's less about one single band that inspires me the most now, and more about a collection of different things that have shaped me over the years.

Musically, when I was a teenager, Dimebag Darrell from Pantera was the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place. Seeing him play just made me want to learn. Randy Rhoads too was a huge inspiration along with other players like James Hetfield and even guys like George Lynch and other guys from the 80s way outside of the thrash/death genre. I don't think Buried and Back sounds exactly like any of them, but their approach to guitar definitely left a mark on me.

When it comes to the overall sound of Buried and Back, I pull a lot from bands like Slayer, Anthrax, and early Cannibal Corpse. That thrash and death metal aggression and precision really resonate with what I want to create. Scott Ian/Charlie Benante and Jeff Hanneman are probably the biggest influences on me as far as how I approach guitar and writing.

But beyond just other bands, a huge part of my inspiration actually comes from fiction – especially horror stories. I grew up watching and reading a lot of it, and I find that those narratives, even the really gory ones, often explore deep themes like love, loss, loneliness and more primal emotions like revenge and rage. So, like, my first original song, 'All Dead Ones Rise!', was inspired by the comic character Evil Ernie, and 'The Lost Son of the Lake' is basically a take on Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th Part 6. I try to find those threads in the horror narratives and turn them into heavy music.

So yeah, it's a bit of a patchwork. It’s classic and modern metal influences mixed with the stories that always stuck with me"

You can definitely hear the influences of the bands mentioned above in the songs, but the sound of the songs is still very unique. Unique enough to let your imagination run wild and just let yourself be carried away. Likewise, the nuances of the horror theme can be heard if you take the time.

His fans didn't get much of a respite, as the next single, "The Lost Son of the Lake" was released on February 14, 2024. It transported listeners directly to the aforementioned story of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th Part 6.

Of course, there was also the question of the festivals.
Ceyla: "Are there any festivals or events in Germany, or even worldwide, that you would like to attend? Some of them always offer opportunities to apply.

Everyone has different ideas about which events they might be suitable for, so we are always curious to see what the answer will be.

Rex: "I would love to attend some festivals in Germany and other parts of of Europe. I am always jealous of the great festivals you have over there and nothing we get in the USA compares! A friend of mine that I host my podcast with (The Heavy Metal Hangover) went to Wacken a couple years ago and really enjoyed visiting Germany.

Right now Touring isn’t possible as I am a single person creating music and don't have a formal band. I would really like to build a bigger catalog than I have right now of original music before I would consider putting together a live band and looking to tour or play regionally. I don't know when/if that would happen but I would love to open for bands I always looked up to like Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Testament and the guys from here in New Jersey Overkill! Even some local opening slots would be amazing! "

As many of You know, i do love to recommend to different Festivals, like Dong Open AirFull ForceRock HarzTurock Open Air , Party San Open AirFrostfeuernächteDark Troll Festival and many many more. The only thing we could try would be to write to Graspop or, as always, share the Summer Breeze page.

Nonetheless, we're keeping our fingers crossed for the upcoming festival season for the band where they get the Chance to Play.

Of course, we always give artists and musicians the option to leave a message for the readers. These messages are always very heartwarming, even if you shouldn't mention them in metal. And yet, they are all absolutely lovely people.
Ceyla: "Is there anything you would like the readers of this blog to know about you and your music?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Rex: "I'd just want to say thanks for checking out Buried and Back and for anyone who's taken the time to listen. I'm excited to be putting out music that I'm proud of, and hopefully, it resonates with some of you out there. This project is really a passion thing for me, something I've wanted to do for a long time, bringing these song ideas I had stewing for years finally to life.

One of the reasons I have not formed a formal band is so that I don't get caught up in the drama that comes with working with band members and I can focus on creating music. I was in a band in the early 2000s called Criminally Insane (also a thrash band) and we fractured because of egos and disagreement over what we thought that band should be. I would love to work with other musicians, especially drummers and vocalists/lyricists but it would need to be with people that shared my vision and passion for music instead of worrying about things like getting signed to a label or making money.

Also my song output has been slow because I really want to focus on writing songs I am proud of instead of putting out songs because I want to meet some quota or feel like I need to produce “content”. I have 2 originals out on my Spotify and iTunes account as well as a number of cover songs on my YouTube channel. The cover songs I do not only to pay tribute to some of my favorite songs but also to keep me inspired and motivated to work on my own music.

But if you dig thrash and death metal give me a listen I would really appreciate the support!

- REX"

With this, we had another Honor to write about a Awesome Band and we hope to fascinate so much more People to look into his Music.

All named artists, as well as festivals and the entire discography, are linked throughout the article!
