First of all as Always thank you to AASB for giving me the Permission to write this Introduction.

As the Readers of this Blog most know by now, I'am often on Spotify and switch through so many Artists. And in this Sence i found also AASB!
Many groups that I know have achieved a certain status, but there are also some really great underground bands that deserve recognition. Personally, I am more of a symphonic, speed, or power metal listener, but sometimes I also explore other genres or sub-genres.

Line-Up is as Such
- Joel (lead guitar, vocals, synthesizer)
- Sören (rhythm guitar, vocals)
- Florian (drums)

The band started in 2018 with a bassist/vocalist and a drummer. However, now only guitars, synthesizers, vocals, bass, and guitars remain in the band, but that shouldn't slow their progress within the music world. They chose the special musical style of Funeral Doom Metal and Drone, which made them even more of a sensation within the metal scene.

If one may add some comments or reviews on their Bandcamp :
Sælzer Bub: An interesting musical journey into the world of Blade Runner. AASB have crafted an exceptional debut here. Funeral cyber drone/doom from their hometown. I'm excited to see what comes next. There's a lot of potential here.

daishi666: What a brilliant album...I'd love to hear more of it...

And this brings us to their only release to date, which came out on May 24, 2024. Their debut album, Nexus X, stormed straight into the hearts of their fans, as you could read.
1. Intro (03:04) (instrumental)
2. Neon Dusk (11:48)
3. Drone_1 (05:55) (instrumental)
4. Nexus X (13:48)
5. Rise of the Replicants (10:43)
Full Playtime: 45:18

As always, we were able to ask our questions, which we are happy to include.
Ceyla"Is there any band that inspires you the most? Or, if there isn’t such a band, where do you draw your inspiration from? If neither applies, how did you come up with these two sub-genres, if you can still call them that?
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
AASB: "The band was originally founded with the intention of being a classic funeral doom band in the style of Mournful Congregation, Frowning, Ahab, UN, and Bell Witch.

Over time, however, a unique songwriting style developed. The music increasingly incorporated more effects and synthesizers and sounded increasingly "sci-fi." The previously chosen theme/concept no longer fit.
Since we're all passionate about dark science fiction, we came up with the idea of using that as the band's theme.
The idea of calling our music "Cyber Doom" is a gracious tribute to Ahab, who call their style "Nautical Funeral Doom."
We were also inspired by Ahab in the conception of our album (and likely future releases): Like Ahab, our album is a concept album that deals with a literary work (in our most recent case, "Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick/Ridley Scott). We plan to continue this concept of focusing on a work of science fiction literature with each release for future releases.

Nevertheless, the aforementioned bands and their style continue to inspire us. Equally inspiring are film music producers like Vangelis and Hans Zimmer, as well as various artists from the dark ambient/synth genres like Lorn, Beyond the Ghost, and Gipnozer, or from the drone doom genre like SUNN O)))."

You can definitely hear the influences of the bands mentioned above in the songs, but the sound of the songs is still very unique. Unique enough to let your imagination run wild and just let yourself be carried away. Even if that's hard to imagine with some music genres.

To share some more information about the band that they sent us, we'd like to share it here:
AASB is a cyber doom band from North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, founded in 2018.
Originally founded as a classic, epic/melodic funeral doom band, we've found our own style and niche over time.

We combine loud (!), slow, epic, but also groovy doom with analog synthesizers and samples to create a dark, dystopian, and futuristic atmosphere.

After five years as a "two-man rehearsal room project," we self-released our debut concept album, "Nexus-X," in May 2024. Shortly thereafter, another band member joined, rounding out AASB into a proper band.

Of course, there was also the question of the festivals.
Ceyla: "Are there any festivals or events in Germany, or even worldwide, that you would like to attend? Some of them always offer opportunities to apply.

Everyone has different ideas about which events they might be suitable for, so we are always curious to see what the answer will be.

AASB: "We haven't played any live shows yet, as we've been working on it as a duo for a long time. Only at the end of last year (2024) did we find a drummer in Flo from Orko, and we plan to share the stage with AASB for the first time at the end of this year (2025).
A dream would be to play at Soulcrusher or the small but excellent Haunting the Castle Festival someday."

As many of You know, i do love to recommend to different Festivals, like Dong Open AirFull ForceRock HarzSummer BreezeTurock Open Air , Party San Open AirFrostfeuernächteDark Troll Festival and many many more. The only thing we could try would be to write to Graspop or, as always, share the Summer Breeze page.

Nonetheless, we're keeping our fingers crossed for the upcoming festival season for the band where they get the Chance to Play.

Of course, we always give artists and musicians the option to leave a message for the readers. These messages are always very heartwarming, even if you shouldn't mention them in metal. And yet, they are all absolutely lovely people.

Ceyla: "Is there anything you would like the readers of this blog to know about you and your music?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
AASB: "Support your local underground scene! Go to concerts by small, local bands! Read blogs like this one instead of spending hours scrolling through TikTok and the like.
There are so many great and dedicated bands in the underground who are passionate about what they do and are just waiting to be discovered!
DOOM OVER ALL!!!"

With this, we had another Honor to write about a Awesome Band and we hope to fascinate so much more People to look into there Music.

All named artists, as well as festivals and the entire discography, are linked throughout the article!
