First of all as Always thank you to A Thousand Sufferings for giving me the Permission to write this Introduction.

As the Readers of this Blog most know by now, I'am often on Spotify and switch through so many Artists. And in this Sence i found also A Thousand Sufferings!

Many groups that I know have achieved a certain status, but there are also some really great underground bands that deserve recognition. Personally, I am more of a symphonic, speed, or power metal listener, but sometimes I also explore other genres or sub-genres.

The Line-Up is as Such:
PJ (Guitars, Vocals)
Jurgen (Guitars)
Joan (Bass)
W (Drums)

Since we want to be as informative as possible, we also like to use something from their official websites, in this case the band's Bandcamp.

A Thousand Sufferings is combining black and doom metal to bring you the ultimate experience of discomfort and misery. Hailing from Belgium, the band rose up out of the ashes of bands such as Verloren, Vex, Xasthur and Festering Christcunt. Being hard to label the music, experience and decide for yourself...

On December 23rd, 2015, the band debuted with a big bang under the label Satanath Records. With their album Burden, they paved their way through the big world of metal and made it clear that they were not going away anytime soon. They were only 500 copies.

1. Once in a Blue Moon (03:06)
2. Red Is Redemption (Bloodletting) (09:28)
3. Black Is Burden (Lamentation) (09:54)
4. A Thousand Sufferings - Blue Is... (Remembering Treasures) (11:47)
Full-Length Playtime: 34:15

As always, we were able to ask our questions, which we are happy to include.

Ceyla: "Is there any band that inspires you the most? Or, if there isn’t such a band, where do you draw your inspiration from?"

All of our questions were answered by the band's singer PJ, which is an honor for us no matter which band member.

PJ: „I don’t know, there’s so much great music out there. Naming just one (or only a couple) is impossible for me. I must say that A Thousand Sufferings finds a lot of inspiration in nineties black and doom metal. And I for instance, also listen to a lot of the modern black metal. I usually look for bands who bring something new to the table, bands who are not afraid of thinking outside the box, who dare to integrate different elements and still sound vile, aggressive, angry.“

You can definitely hear the influences of which he is mentioning above in the songs, but the sound of the songs is still very unique. Unique enough to let your imagination run wild and just let yourself be carried away. Even if that's hard to imagine with some music genres.

On October 16, 2017, the long-awaited split vinyl (10" vinyl (33⅓ RPM)) was released. This was the result of a collaboration between A Thousand Sufferings and Marche Funèbre. In this case too, you had to be quick as there were only 100 copies. The Split was called
My Temple, My Prison / Capital of Rain.

Side A
1. A Thousand Sufferings - My Temple, My Prison (08:33)

Side B
2. Marche Funèbre - Capital of Rain (08:37)
Full-Length Playtime: 17:10

Of course, there was also the question of the festivals.

Ceyla: "Are there any festivals or events in Germany, or even worldwide, that you would like to attend? Some of them always offer opportunities to apply."

Everyone has different ideas about which events they might be suitable for, so we are always curious to see what the answer will be.

PJ: „Gemany has a lot of awesome smaller festivals. I personally prefer those over the big industry festivals like Wacken, Graspop Metal Meeting or Hellfest. As an audience you're much closer to the bands which add to the overall atmosphere.
So to answer your question, yes, all of the smaller ones“

As many of You know, i do love to recommend to different Festivals, like
Dong Open Air, Full Force, Rock Harz, Summer Breeze, Turock Open Air, Party San Open Air, Frostfeuernächte, Dark Troll Festival and many many more.

Nonetheless, we're keeping our fingers crossed for the upcoming festival season for the band where they get the Chance to Play.

We now try to include the complete discography in these presentations to make the search easier.

[2018.11.22] Bleakness (Album)

[2021.07.22] Ominous Dark Clouds (EP)

[2021.09.24] Stilte (Album)

[2024.12.06] Het Pact (Split with Kludde)

Of course, we always give artists and musicians the option to leave a message for the readers. These messages are always very heartwarming, even if you shouldn't mention them in metal. And yet, they are all absolutely lovely people.

Ceyla: "Is there anything you would like the readers of this blog to know about you and your music?"

🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

PJ: „Keep the underground alive. There’s a lot of great music being released almost every day, keep supporting that.“

With this, we had another Honor to write about a Awesome Artists and we hope to fascinate so much more People to look into there Music.

All named artists, as well as festivals and the entire discography, are linked throughout the article!
