Disclaimer: The band/solo artist knows about my blog. I do have permission to write about them and to use their/his picture. All links are placed, as well as the representative videos on YouTube.

Image rights are going to the Band itself - 8.8

First of all as Always thank you to 8.8 for giving me the Permission to write this Introduction.

As the Readers of this Blog most know by now, I'am often on Spotify and switch through so many Artists. And in this Sense i found also 8.8!
Many groups that I know have achieved a certain status, but there are also some really great underground bands that deserve recognition.

The Line Up is as Such
Yakov Molina (Drums)
Carlos Oviedo (Guitars, Vocals (choirs)
Robert Callahue (Vocals, Wind instruments)
Franks Paucarmayta (Wind instruments)
Álvaro Rojas (Bass)
Gustavo Duran (Guitars)

Since the lyrical themes (Andean worldview, Current events, History, Myths, Social issues) of the songs speak to some people, I had to ask if I could write about them. Thankfully, they said yes!

On Metal Archives it is also noted: According to the band, their name comes from the 2010 Chile earthquake, which had a magnitude of 8.8 on the moment magnitude scale.

In October 2016, a demo was released that no one had expected. The band 8.8 made their debut with this demo and already managed to get some hearts racing. The demo was called Yawarmayu and was released in a limited edition of only 150 copies.

We had the Honor that Guitarist and Choirs Vocalist Carlos answered our Questions.

As always, we were able to ask our questions, which we are happy to include.
Ceyla"Is there any band that inspires you the most? Or, if there isn’t such a band, where do you draw your inspiration from?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Carlos: "The bands most of us have listened to since we were very young are Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Helloween, Metallica, Manowar, Death, among others. They are the most influential bands in our lives, as is our own living experience in the Andes, surrounded by legends, myths, and the entire Andean worldview. All of this influences us when we compose our songs."

You can definitely hear the influences of the Bands mentioned above in the songs, but the sound of the songs is still very unique. Unique enough to let your imagination run wild.

To take something else from the Spotify description: Formed in mid-2014 in the city of Cusco, this band develops a style known as Andean metal.

The current lineup of 8.8 consists of Robert ‘Toby’ Callahue on vocals and wind instruments; Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Duran on electric guitar; Carlos Enrique ‘Kike’ Saire on drums; Carlos ‘Loncho’ Oviedo on guitars and vocals; Frank’s ‘Huayras’ Paucarmayta on wind instruments; and Álvaro ‘Manolo’ Rojas on bass.

Of course, there was also the question of the festivals.
Ceyla: "Are in Germany or more so in the World any Festivals or Events that you would like to attend
(Feel free to include any you may have already visited. Or want to Visit again).

Some of them are always giving Chances to Apply to. Or give it Bands that you would like to Tour with?

Everyone has different ideas about which events they might be suitable for, so we are always curious to see what the answer will be.

Carlos: "The biggest metal festival we would love to attend is, without a doubt, Wacken Open Air."

As many of You know, i do love to recommend to different Festivals, like Dong Open AirFull ForceRock HarzSummer BreezeTurock Open Air , Party San Open AirFrostfeuernächte and many many more. The only thing we could share is the Summer Breeze page.

In July 2023, what her fans had been most looking forward to finally happened: her debut album, Pachamama, was released.

We certainly hope to hear more from these talented musicians in the foreseeable future. Listening to their music is like entering a different world.

Of course, we always give artists and musicians the option to leave a message for the readers. These messages are always very heartwarming, even if you shouldn't mention them in metal. And yet, they are all absolutely lovely people.

Ceyla: "Is there anything you would like the readers of this blog to know about you and your music?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Carlos: "We are a band that fuses metal with sounds originating from the Andes, which is why we call what we do "Andean metal." "

With this, we had another Honor to write about a Awesome Band and we hope to fascinate so much more People to look into there Music.

All named artists, as well as festivals and the entire discography, are linked throughout the article!
