First of all, I'd like to thank the band 100 Years War for giving me the honor to write about them!

As many times as before, I discovered them on Spotify and had to admit that their music was moving for me. Yes, I know that describing Death Metal/Crust as such is difficult, but it helped me in some Moments.

The Line-Up is as such
Lacca - Vocals
Mano - Guitar
Dan - Guitar
Mat - Bass
Ash - Drums

In April 2019, the music world unveiled a completely new band. 100 Years War originated in Melbourne, Australia, a mecca for many excellent bands. On April 26 of that year, the band released their debut single, "Dead Weight," which definitely garnered them quite a few fans.

With the themes of "society, ignorance, and despotism," they also created something that many people find troubling. This makes their lyrics very relatable and even thought-provoking.

As always, we were able to ask our questions, which we are happy to include.
Ceyla"Is there any band that inspires you the most? Or, if there isn’t such a band, where do you draw your inspiration from?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Mano: "I'm not sure there is any single band that we all draw influence from.  I think our collective inspiration for 100 Years War comes from a common love of heavy music and a desire to push ourselves to keep creating and to keep getting better. Personally, the early UK extreme bands, like Carcass, Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death had a big influence on me when I was young and then later going back and listening to the d-beat/crust scene those bands came from also had an influence on me. I'd say that is where the initial idea of combining d-beat and old school death to create 100 Years War grew from."

You can definitely hear the influences of the bands mentioned above in the songs, but the sound of the songs is still very unique. Unique enough to let your imagination run wild.  Even if that's hard to imagine with some music genres.

Fast forward a bit in the years to come, and their debut album was released in 2021. With the title "Stand Amongst the Fallen," the band brought a breath of fresh air to the death metal and crust community, attracting more and more attention there as well.

To fish something out of their Bandcamp: After decades battling it out in separate campaigns, seasoned veterans from the darkest corners of the Melbourne underground have combined forces to create 100 YEARS WAR. An unsettling mix of D-Beat Punk and Old School Death Metal that will leave you wondering what hit you.

Of course, there was also the question of the festivals.
Ceyla: "Are there any festivals or events in Germany, or even worldwide, that you would like to attend? Some of them always offer opportunities to apply.

Everyone has different ideas about which events they might be suitable for, so we are always curious to see what the answer will be.

Mano: "Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to play any of the German Festivals this year but we are keen to come back to Germany and Europe in general, in 2026 or 2027 and we would love to get onto some of the German fests.
We did get to play a few shows in Germany and the audiences responses were great. I think German and more broadly European audiences really seem to understand and appreciate what 100 Years War is doing."

As many of You know, i do love to recommend to different Festivals, like Dong Open AirFull ForceRock HarzSummer BreezeTurock Open Air , Party San Open AirFrostfeuernächte and many many more. The only thing we could share is the Summer Breeze page.

Nonetheless, we're keeping our fingers crossed for the upcoming festival season for the band where they get the Chance to Play.

In February 2022, the demos from the past few years were released, compiled into one CD: singles from 2019 and 2021. So that even the fans of the early days could enjoy the older songs and find out from which background the band came to them.

Of course, we always give artists and musicians the option to leave a message for the readers. These messages are always very heartwarming, even if you shouldn't mention them in metal. And yet, they are all absolutely lovely people.

Ceyla: "Is there anything you would like the readers of this blog to know about you and your music?"
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Mano: "If old school death metal and/or d-beat/crust is your thing then check out our new album ONWARDS TO DEATH, bandcamp link below. CDs are out on Obliteration Records Japan and Goatsound Australia, available through Direct Merch.

With this, we had another Honor to write about a Awesome Band and we hope to fascinate so much more People to look into his Music.

All named artists, as well as festivals and the entire discography, are linked throughout the article!
